Interested in Cross Country? Summer conditioning is a great opportunity for students in 5th–8th grade to experience what cross country is like in a fun, supportive environment!

Why Join Summer Conditioning?

  • Learn what cross country practices are like

  • Build endurance and stamina

  • Set personal fitness and running goals

  • Prepare both physically and mentally for the fall season

  • Meet teammates and coaches before the school year begins

  • Make new friendships and enjoy being outdoors

Summer practices are open to students who are curious about running or considering joining the cross country team in the fall. Summer practices will be held once a week on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00 at SCA starting June 2nd and ending July 28th. We will meet in the front parking lot.

NOTE: We will hold 2 of those Tuesday’s at a different location. June 9th we will run at the BNL cross country course from 6:00-7:00, and July 21st we will run at Avoca Fish Hatchery at normal time as well.

Important Information for the School Year

  • Students who decide to run for the official cross country team at the beginning of the school year are strongly encouraged to get a sports physical completed before school starts.

  • Sports physicals must be turned in to the school office before the official season begins, which is during the second week of school. This physical will be valid for all sports during the 2026-2027 school year.

  • Permission slips for the official season will be sent home during the first week of school.

Whether you’re new to running or already love it, summer conditioning is a great way to get started. Come run with us and see what cross country is all about!
