What to do if we have a snow dayβ¦
Please prepare your inclement weather plans for all situations. We could have a 2 hour delay, an early dismissal, a βpacket dayβ, an e learning day, or a cancellation.
βοΈ We will start with packet days if we need to cancel school. We are only allowed to have three of those per year.
βοΈ Next we will go with our snow days and use our built in snow days (January 19, February 16, April 3).
βοΈ After those are all used, we will do e-learning days. We can have as many e-learning days as needed for inclement weather.
βοΈ If an announcement needs to be made about school for inclement weather, these are the places it will be: your email, Facebook, Shannon and Deb, WBIW, Fox 59, and WTHR 13.
We do the best we can to prevent having to add days to the school calendar. Schools are required to get 180 school days per year.

Prepare for Colder Weather
π₯Ά Prepare for Colder Weather π§₯
As temperatures drop, please remember to send your child to school with appropriate outerwear each day. Coats, hats, and gloves help keep everyone warm and comfortable during outdoor play.
If your family needs assistance with warm clothing, please reach out to admin@springville.academy β weβre happy to help.
βπΎ Tips for Keeping Track of Coats, Hats, and Gloves
Label everything! Write your childβs name inside their coat.
Bundle items together. When not wearing gloves and hats, tuck the gloves into the hat, and then place the hat (with gloves inside) into the sleeve of the coat. This helps keep sets together and prevents lost items.
π‘οΈ Outdoor Recess Guidelines
We love getting fresh air and will go outside as much as possible! Our outdoor time decisions follow a simple color-coded chart:
π’ Green Zone: We will go outside.
π‘ Yellow Zone: Shortened recess β about 5β10 minutes for grades Kβ1, and 10β15 minutes for grades 2β6.
π΄ Red Zone: We will stay indoors.
Thank you for helping your child stay warm, safe, and ready for outdoor fun this winter!
